Description

The Federal budget and the potential impact on young people and youth services
YACVic, in partnership with VCOSS, the Council to Homeless Persons and the Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare will host a forum for the youth sector on the recent Federal budget and how it might impact both young people and the sector that supports them.

We have had an unprecedented number of our members approach us with concerns about how the budget will potentially affect young people. To address these concerns we will hold a half-day forum to bring together key service areas – housing, employment and mental health and family support – that will likely feel the greatest impact of these changes. We will also hear directly from young people likely to be affected.

The forum will focus largely on the withdrawal of funding for Youth Connections, the uncertainty around future funding for the LLENs and the proposed changes to income support for young people.

Speakers: Rebekha Sharkie, Executive Officer of the National Youth Connections Network – other speakers to be confirmed shortly.

Afternoon tea will be provided.
